SAU Women's Basketball Visits Claflin Monday In CIAA Opener (Nov. 19)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 18) – Coming off its first win of the season, Saint Augustine's University (SAU) ventures to Orangeburg, S.C., for a women's' basketball matchup against CIAA newcomer Claflin University on Monday, Nov. 19. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Health and Physical Education Center.

The contest is the CIAA opener for both teams. The Lady Falcons (1-2 overall) enter the game on a high note after beating Clark Atlanta University 72-56 at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Lady Panthers (2-2 overall) topped Anderson (S.C.) University 77-71 on Saturday for their second straight win.

Kiana Clark (Jr./Queens, NY) of SAU scored a career-high 19 points on 5 of 6 three-point shooting and Kelsee Arnold (Sr./Fayetteville, GA) added 15 points in the win over Clark Atlanta. Arnold leads the Lady Falcons with a 12.7 scoring average followed by Clark and Kamya Renwicks (Jr./Baltimore, MD) at 9.7 points per game apiece.

Ashley Fields is the top scorer for the Lady Panthers at 16.8 points per game. Deja' Dickens and Dashia Jackson average 11.8 points and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Both Dickens and Jackson scored 21 points each against Anderson.

After the Claflin game, the Lady Falcons take a Thanksgiving break before resuming play at home on Tuesday, Nov. 27, against Virginia State University.
