RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 23) – Saint Augustine's University hosts Clarion University in a softball doubleheader at Lions Park beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. Admission is free.
The Lady Falcons (2-2 overall) are coming off a doubleheader split against Benedict College on Wednesday, Feb. 21. They are led by several student-athletes including CIAA Pitcher of the Week Makayla August (So./Palm Springs, CA), who is tied for first in the conference in home runs (2), pitching wins (2) and runs batted in (7). She also is tied for third in strikeouts (12) and ranks fourth in earned run average (3.89).
Hailey Sessoms (So./Kenansville, NC) leads the CIAA in stolen bases (3) and is tied for third in the CIAA in batting average (.429). Akera McPhaul (Sr./Greensboro, NC) and Mechelle Moss (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) are both tied for eighth in batting average (.385). Jasmine Rios is the CIAA leader in triples (3).
Clarion is winless in six games this season. Cassidy Runyan leads the Golden Eagles in batting average (.467), RBIs (7), hits (7), runs (5) and home runs (3).
