Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. (March 1) – Saint Augustine's University scored five runs in the eighth inning to topple Barton College 12-8 in the second game of a softball doubleheader at Jeffries Field in Wilson, N.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The Lady Falcons lost the first game 9-1.
Jasmine Rios (Sr./Greensboro, NC) and Marley Parker (Sr./Langley, British Columbia) each collected three RBIs and Makayla August (So./Palm Springs, CA) had two RBIs and three doubles in the second game for the Lady Falcons, who are 3-5 overall. The foursome of Tamiera Sanchez (So./Sacramento, CA), Chandra Mackey (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas), Keighly Capron (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) and Parker each scored twice.
Rios smacked a three-run triple in the eighth inning to give the Lady Falcons a five-run cushion. Barton scored once in the eighth but August, who was the winning pitcher, finished off the Lady Bulldogs for the win.
Rios' triple was one of two for the Lady Falcons in the second game. In the fifth inning, Parker hit a three-run triple and scored on August's single to put the Lady Falcons ahead 6-4. August added an RBI double in the seventh inning but the Lady Bulldogs (6-10 overall) tied the game with three runs in the bottom seventh to force an extra inning.
In the first game, the Lady Falcons scored their only run on Parker's RBI single in the fourth. August recorded a double in the contest.
The Lady Falcons are off until March 13 when they host Mansfield University in a doubleheader at Lions Park. Game times are 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
