SAU Women's Basketball Visits Mount Olive On Wednesday (Nov. 13)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 12) - Saint Augustine's University will be aiming to stretch its women's basketball win streak when the Lady Falcons visit the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.

The Lady Falcons are coming off a successful trip from the CIAA/PSAC Challenge in Lincoln University, Pa., this past weekend. They defeated Clarion University and Kutztown University to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2011. The SAU women got contributions from several players, including junior guard Quiera Gilmore (Charlotte, NC), who made the all-tournament team after averaging 16 points and six steals.

Preseason All-CIAA selection Kaaliya Williams (Sr. Forward/Richmond, VA) also played a key role. She averaged 13 points in two games and hit two clutch free throws in the final seconds of a one-point overtime win over Kutztown. Angela Caraballo (Sr. Guard/Richmond, VA) and Kiana Clark (Sr. Guard/Queens, NY) averaged 8.0 and 7.5 points, respectively, in the Challenge, and Shankia Clark (Sr. Forward/Orlando, FL) averaged five points and five rebounds.Ten Lady Falcons averaged 10 or more minutes in the Challenge.

The Lady Falcons will face a Mount Olive squad that won its season opener on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Trojans took care of Coker University 62-57 in Kornegay Arena with guard Azariah Fields leading the way with 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. Hope Toliver added 16 points and eight rebounds and Sherry Johnson contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

Both teams will face each other for the third straight year. This will be their second matchup in Kornegay Arena in three seasons.
