SAU Softball Visits Winston-Salem State In Regular-Season Doubleheader Finale Thursday (April 25)

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 24) – The 2019 softball season comes to a close for Saint Augustine's University (SAU) on Thursday, April 25, when the Lady Falcons visit Winston-Salem State University in a CIAA Southern Division softball doubleheader in Winston-Salem, N.C. The first game begins at 2 p.m. and the second game starts at approximately 4 p.m. at Twin City Field.

The doubleheader, originally scheduled for Friday, April 26, was moved to Thursday due to the threat of inclement weather.

The Lady Falcons were in contention for the fourth and final Southern Division seed entering the week, but lost both games of a doubleheader to Fayetteville State University on Monday. Fayetteville State swept Livingstone College on Wednesday to clinch the No. 4 seed.

SAU is 4-6 in the Southern Division, 5-11 in the CIAA and 5-17 overall. WSSU is 6-2 in the Southern Division, 12-2 in the CIAA and 24-10 overall. The Rams are second in the Southern Division and the Lady Falcons are fifth.

Makayla August (Jr./Palm Springs, CA) of SAU ranks fourth in the CIAA in batting average (.439), seventh in on-base percentage (.529), 10^th in slugging percentage (.702), seventh in doubles (9) and sixth in triples (6). As a pitcher, she is second in strikeouts (94) and seventh in earned run average (3.86) in the CIAA.

Erica Davis of WSSU ranks second in batting average (.488) and on-base percentage (.598), and seventh in slugging percentage (.750) in the CIAA. Daijah Chambers of WSSU is fifth in batting average (.438), second in slugging percentage (.844), sixth in runs (30) and fifth in RBIs (35) in the CIAA. She is fourth in the conference in home runs (8).
