SAU Women's Basketball Hosts Livingstone Monday In CIAA Southern Division Matchup (Jan. 13)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 12) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) concludes a three-game homestand on Monday, Jan. 13, against Livingstone College in a CIAA Southern Division women's basketball matchup at Emery Gymnasium. The action starts at 5:30 p.m.

This is the first conference game of the New Year for the Lady Falcons, who played nationally-ranked Virginia Union University and regionally-ranked Lincoln (Pa.) University in non-conference contests against CIAA teams last week.

The Lady Falcons stayed close with Lincoln for three periods in a 70-61 loss at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 11. Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) scored 17 points to lead three SAU double-figure scorers. Milequa Eason (Jr./Woodland, NC) and Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Williams is the Lady Falcons' top scorer with a 13.5 average on 47 percent shooting. Quiera Gilmore (Sr./Charlotte, NC) averages 10.9 points and Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) averages 8.5 points for the Lady Falcons, who rank seventh nationally in Division II in forcing turnovers (24.5).

The Lady Blue Bears (2-4 CIAA, 5-8 overall) are coming off a tough 81-80 overtime loss to Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C., on Jan. 9. Daisa Harris totaled 28 points and 10 rebounds in defeat, and Daijah Turner added 18 points.

The contest features two of the CIAA's top scorers in Harris of Livingstone and Williams of SAU. Harris ranks second in the conference in points per game (18.7) and Williams ranks sixth.

SAU (1-3 CIAA, 5-8 overall) looks to break a two-game losing skid in the series. The last time the Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Blue Bears was two years ago in a 70-63 victory at Emery Gymnasium. Williams poured in 24 points in the win.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $8.50 for senior citizens, military personnel with valid ID, faculty, staff, visiting college students with ID and children ages 6-12 as part of a doubleheader. The contest is free for SAU students and children ages 5 and under per one paying adult.
