SAU Women's Basketball Hits Road For Two Games This Week Starting Monday (Jan. 20)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 19) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) will look to continue its road success this week against Bowie State University and Livingstone College in CIAA women's basketball matchups.

The Lady Falcons visit regionally-ranked Bowie State in Bowie, Md., on Monday, Jan. 20, at 4 p.m. The site of the contest is Jordan Arena.

After playing Bowie State, the Lady Falcons get one-day rest before taking on Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at New Trent Gymnasium.

SAU has fared well on the road this season. The Lady Falcons are 3-2 in away games, including a 54-48 win over perennially strong Virginia State University in Ettrick, Va., near Petersburg on Jan. 15.

Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) sparked the Lady Falcons against Virginia State with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 10 points and Shankia Clark (Sr./Orlando, FL) had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Renwicks is one of several SAU seniors playing well this season. She ranks among the CIAA's top 10 in steals (2.0) and free throw percentage (75.0) in addition to averaging nearly 10 points.

Leading scorer Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) is among the league's top 10 in scoring (12.9) and free throw percentage (82.7), and Quiera Gilmore (Sr./Charlotte, NC) is among the conference leaders in steals (2.2) while averaging 11.1 points.

The trio heads an SAU squad (1-4 CIAA, 6-9 overall) ranked ninth in Division II in forcing turnovers (23.7). The Lady Falcons will rely on their defense to avenge earlier home losses to Bowie State (57-45) and Livingstone (71-63) this season.

Bowie State (5-1 CIAA, 15-2 overall) and Livingstone (4-5 CIAA, 7-9 overall) possess two of the top five scorers in the CIAA. Kyaja Williams ranks fourth (14.4) in points per game, second in rebounds per game (9.9), first in steals per game (3.9) and fourth in blocks per game (1.2) for Bowie State, ranked third in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll. Daisa Harris of Livingstone is second in scoring (18.8) and tied for fourth in assists (3.5).
