Two Road Games On Tap This Week For SAU Women's Basketball (Feb. 19, 22)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 18) – Saint Augustine's University visits two CIAA opponents in women's basketball this week to conclude the regular season.

The Lady Falcons play Elizabeth City State University on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in a designated non-conference game at the Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, N.C. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

Three days later, the SAU women take on Fayetteville State University on Saturday, Feb. 22, in a Southern Division matchup at Capel Arena in Fayetteville, N.C. The contest starts at 2 p.m.

The Lady Falcons lost to both teams in tight contests at home earlier in the season. They fell to Elizabeth City State in double overtime 91-81 on Dec. 14, 2019, and to Fayetteville State 48-45 on Feb. 1, 2020.

SAU is coming off a 71-65 road win over Shaw University on Feb. 14. The Lady Falcons swept the two-game season series against their crosstown rival for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

The Lady Falcons (10-16 overall, 5-11 CIAA) are led by Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) and an aggressive defense that ranks 17th nationally in forcing turnovers (21.92 per game). Williams averages 11.3 points and nearly five rebounds for SAU, fifth in the Southern Division.

Devona Stell averages 13.4 points and 10.6 rebounds for Elizabeth City State (9-17 overall, 5-9 CIAA), fourth in the Northern Division. Katisha Hyman averages 17.3 points for Fayetteville State (16-8 overall, 13-2 Southern Division), the Southern Division leader.

Both Elizabeth City State and Fayetteville State were victorious at home in their last games on Feb. 15. The Vikings beat Virginia State University 72-58 and the Broncos defeated Winston-Salem State University 68-59.
