SAU Women's Basketball Hosts Capital Classic This Weekend (Nov. 19-20)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 17) – The Saint Augustine's University (SAU) women's basketball team will host the Capital Classic at Emery Gymnasium this weekend.

The two-day doubleheader is set for Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20. The teams participating are Virginia-Lynchburg and local schools Shaw and William Peace in addition to SAU.

General admission tickets are $13 per day. Students and spectators are required to provide COVID-19 vaccination proof and wear a mask upon entering Emery Gymnasium. Temperature checks are required and there is a limited seating capacity of 375.

Friday, Nov. 19
5 p.m. – Virginia-Lynchburg vs. Shaw
7:30 p.m. – William Peace vs. Saint Augustine's

Saturday, Nov. 20
2 p.m. – William Peace vs. Shaw
4:30 p.m. – Virginia-Lynchburg vs. Saint Augustine's

SAU (0-2 overall) is led in scoring by the trio of Vernisha Robin (Jr./Miami, FL), Lauren Banks (Fr./Clinton, MD) and Danielle Rainey (Jr./Florence, SC). All three average 7.5 points per game.

Makenzie Pollard leads Shaw (0-2 overall) with a 19-point average, and Stormie Brown is the top scorer for William Peace (1-1 overall) with a 13-point average.
