Raleigh, NC. – The Saint Augustine's women's basketball team surrendered its second-straight loss against CIAA opponent Elizabeth City State University. The Lady Falcons were again without starting point guard, Dasmine Kasey, and her absence left a major void in the backcourt. A back-and-forth game throughout the first three quarters, the game shifted in the Vikings' favor as it began the fourth quarter with a 10-1 run. The Lady Falcons kept it close briefly holding on to a five-point with 2:10 remaining (49-44). Unfortunately for the Lady Falcons, the Vikings closed out on a 10-2 run to secure the win 59-46.
Taniyah Greene led the Lady Falcons on the night with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
Head Coach Ebony Tanner Postgame Comments
"We came out strong. We came out wanting to defend, and [we] wanted to turn them over, kind of keep them out the paint, and we did that for three quarters. Fourth quarter, [cooler] heads prevailed, and we actually ended up losing that quarter 20-7. For three quarters, we were the team we promised our fans we would be. We got after it really hard after the last show on Thursday night. When we went back in the gym Friday, it was all about defense, and the girls showed and proved that they took heed that defense was important, and that definitely showed on the court today."
