Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 17) – Victoria De La Cruz (So./Whittier, CA) hit a home run for Saint Augustine's University in softball doubleheader losses to William Peace University at the WPU Softball Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The Lady Falcons fell 11-2 in the first game and 6-2 in the second game.
Cruz smacked a two-run home run in the seventh inning of the second game to put the Lady Falcons on the scoreboard. The home run was one of four hits for the Lady Falcons in the contest.
The trio of Dawayna Pratt (Sr./Nassau, Bahamas), Rashonda Hart (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) and Gia Minnis (Grad./Nassau, Bahamas) each collected a hit. Hart was on base when Cruz homered.
In the first game, Cruz batted 2 of 3 and scored one of the Lady Falcons' two runs. Laurel Rolle (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) drove in Cruz and Shaquelle Bain (Sr./Nassau, Bahamas) with a two-run single in the fourth inning. Rolle finished 2 of 2 at the plate.
The other Lady Falcons who tallied a hit were Victoria Spoon (So./Holland Patent, NY), Hart, Bain and Madison Poston (So./Florence, SC).
The Lady Falcons are 0-6 overall and the Pacers are 3-1 overall.
The Lady Falcons will take a break before returning to action March 2 against St. Andrews University in their home opening doubleheader. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Oakwood Park.
