Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Feb. 5) - Saint Augustine's University played Winston-Salem State even in the first half before falling 61-50 in a CIAA women's basketball contest at the Gaines Center on Saturday.
Milequa Eason (Grad./Woodland, NC) and Jada Swafford (Jr./Alexandria, LA) each scored 10 points for the Lady Falcons, who held the Rams to 34.4 percent shooting.
Vernisha Robin (Jr./Miami, FL) had seven points and nine rebounds and Raquel Cassidy (Jr./Gainesville, FL) finished with seven points and six rebounds. Taniyah Greene (Fr./Cheltenham, MD) collected six points.
The Lady Falcons rallied from an early first-period deficit to tie the score at 12-12 at the end of the first period. The game was also tied at 28-28 going into the halftime break.
The contest was close in the third period until the Lady Falcons were whistled for a technical foul, which helped the Rams build a working margin. The Lady Falcons were ultimately outscored 17-9 in the third period.
Trailing 45-37 heading into the fourth period, the Lady Falcons (3-3 Southern Division, 3-9 CIAA, 7-13 overall) attempted to chip away at the deficit, but the Rams maintained their lead.
Amaya Tucker scored 25 points to pace the Rams (4-2 Southern Division, 6-5 CIAA, 10-8 overall).
The Lady Falcons visit Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday, Feb. 9. for their fifth straight road game. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
